To view received and sent message request you have to open "Inbox" first. You can do that by clicking on "View all messages" button under the "Messages" icon or by clicking on "Inbox" menu under your account menu.
Then you have to click on a menu Message requests at the left. First the Received message requests will show, but you can switch to Sent message requests by clicking on dropdown box at the right.
